Foster carers and adoptive parents

The UK Safer Internet Centre has worked together with Adoption UK to create leaflets for foster carers and adoptive parents.

The leaflets, which are free to download and easy to print, include key advice to help foster carers and adoptive parents get to grips with online safety.

Frequently asked questions

Online safety support for social workers

Co-funded by the European Commission, The Professionals Online Safety Helpline (POSH) was set up in 2011 to help all members of the community working with or for children in the UK, with any online safety issues they, or children and young people in their care, may face. So if you work with children and young people, they’re here to help you.

Social workers, foster and adoption carers and agencies can contact POSH to speak with a trained advisor about specific online safety concerns or questions.

We are grateful to Adoption UK for their support in producing this resource.

If you have concerns that a child is, or has been, the subject of inappropriate sexual contact or approach by another person, it’s vital that you report it to the police via the Child Exploitation and Online Protection Centre (www.ceop.police.uk).
